Figures are the values declared by the mill under the named method. They describe cloth under a laboratory test, not a garment on a job. 475 g/m² · 14 oz, 36,000 cycles, 3 reinforced areas.

where it is reinforced

Reinforced at

  1. 01KneesKnees are double-layered across the full panel.
  2. 02Pocket edgesPocket edges are bartacked at both corners.
  3. 03Back pocketsBack pockets are bartacked and set on a doubled ground.

A reinforced point carries a second layer or a denser stitch. It moves the wear from one layer to two; it does not make the area exempt from wear. Where you work hardest is still where the garment will change first.

what this cloth does

in detail

Raw 14 oz denim, sold unwashed. The chart figures are the flat measurements of the garment as it ships, before any wash.

First domestic wash at 40 °C takes roughly four percent out of the length and the waist. Both notices above tell you what to do about it.

Rivets at every pocket mouth. Knees are doubled, which is unusual on a jean and is the reason for the abrasion figure.
